I continued my journey with Liz & Simon and we travelled together to San Juan del Sur. A city, as the name suggests, in the very south of Nicaragua. It is especially known among young western party people for its "Sunday Fundays". At these Sunday parties, western backpackers come together to drink their heads off in a relaxed pool atmosphere.
Of course, the three of us had not travelled to San Juan del Sur for this reason. We relaxed a little on the beach and made a hike to the statue of Jesus that was located on a high mountain close to the beach. Simon also had the ambition to learn to surf there. I just watched him doing it. No easy undertaking.
In the evening we enjoyed ourselves in the pool of our hostel with a cheap but extremely tasty bottle of rum. Flor de Cana is really recommendable.
3 nights later I left the city and also I had to part ways with Liz & Simon, because they stayed there for a while whereas I went further south to my next country: Costa Rica.
Summary of Nicaragua
Nicaragua is a great country. It offers volcanoes, a lot of vegetation, adventure, friendly people and all this at a reasonable price. Furthermore, Liz and Simon were very pleasant company for most of my stay!
